As one of the largest and most financially stable hospitals in Flanders, the core services provided by the IT department (30 FTEs) are well established. However, the ambition extends further: to transform the department from a high-performing IT support service into a strategic and innovative enabler of patient care.
As CIO, you will take charge of this ICT department, leading the transition from a management-focused organisation to a strategic partner for healthcare. The new CIO will have the unique opportunity to shape the future digital strategy.
The key challenges include:
* Evolving from ‘run’ to ‘strategic change’, where strategic thinking, process optimisation and continuous improvement become the new norm.
* Unlocking data and policy information: laying the organisational and technological foundations to evolve into a more data-driven organisation
* Organising and facilitating customer-focused business partnering
* Extending digital innovation across the entire organisation
* Acting as a visionary and unifying force that translates medical or care-related needs into technological roadmaps, whilst objectifying complex choices at management level
* Acting as an external ambassador and networker, as a figurehead for digital transformation. Proactively connecting with other healthcare institutions, research centres or innovative tech players.
Profile
For this key role, we are seeking a visionary leader who has a proven track record of guiding organisations through complex digital transformations.
The ideal candidate will have:
* A proven track record in IT leadership: At least 10 years’ relevant experience in a senior IT management role (CIO, CTO or IT Director) within a complex, high-availability environment. Experience in leading a transition from ‘supportive management’ to ‘strategic business enabler’ is crucial.
* Enterprise expertise: In-depth knowledge of modern IT governance, Enterprise Architecture (EA) and Project Management (PMO). Experience with large-scale ERP projects and the integration of complex application landscapes is a requirement.
* Data-driven vision: Demonstrable experience in setting up data environments, Business Intelligence and making policy information accessible. An affinity with emerging technologies such as AI and Predictive Analytics is a strong asset.
