Product & Services Manager – Radio & Messaging @ ASTRID

AMF04505

Function

As Product & Services Manager – Radio & Message Alerting, you are the central hub and ultimately responsible within the Service Tower Mobile Communications for the continuity, performance, and strategic evolution of ASTRID's critical basic services: Radio (TETRA) and Message Alerting (Paging).
You combine operational product management with a strong project-based approach. On the one hand, you ensure that existing, proven services continue to run flawlessly for the more than 90,000 emergency and security services in the field ("keeping the lights on"). On the other hand, you play a significant supporting role in the gradual, complex migration of these legacy products to the future NextGenCom architecture. You do not manage through hierarchical people management, but through content ownership, strong coordination, and stakeholder management.

Tasks and responsibilities

In this role, you bridge the gap between the needs of the field emergency services, internal technology and IT teams, and ASTRID's strategic objectives. Your main tasks include:

  • Operational Product Management & Performance: You closely monitor the operational and commercial performance and KPIs of the radio and paging portfolio.
  • You guarantee the high performance and quality of the service and take corrective action where necessary.
  • Lifecycle Management: You manage the complete lifecycle of the radio and paging products: from daily management and continuous optimization, to roadmapping and development, to gradually phased-out management towards the new generation of communication tools.
  • Contribution to Migration & Roadmap to NextGenCom: Together with the NextGen Com team, you will help shape the strategic roadmap for the transition from the current TETRA network and paging services to the NextGenCom platform. You will guide this phase-out and migration step by step without compromising operational continuity.
  • Project Management & Transversal Coordination: You lead projects from A to Z and work closely with multidisciplinary internal teams (such as Product Development, NextGen Team, Operations, IT, Marketing & Go-to-Market) as well as external partners and suppliers.
  • Needs Analysis & Stakeholder Management: You analyze the expectations and needs of end-users (police, fire brigade, medical services) and translate them into clear, prioritized business requirements. You act as the central ambassador for your solutions.
  • Continuous Improvement & Customer Experience: You optimize the end-to-end customer experience by initiating continuous process and service improvements based on market and user insights.

Profile

The ideal Product & Services Manager holds a Master's degree or possesses an equivalent level of thinking and working. You have at least 5 to 10 years of experience (mediior/senior level) in product management and project management within the telecom or ICT/services sector (preferably in B2B or B2B2C markets).

You combine a thorough understanding of mobile telecommunication networks and mission-critical communication with a strong business and analytical mindset. You don't need to be a deep technologist, but you have sufficient technical affinity to engage with IT, network, and architecture teams at a relevant level. You have a proven track record in monitoring product performance, KPI oversight, and leading complex migration projects or roadmaps. You are accustomed to working in an environment with a high degree of autonomy, coordination, and transversal influence.

Offer

  • You work within a driven organization with a special social purpose: you contribute directly to the safety of every citizen in Belgium.
  • A stable environment with an optimal work-life balance and flexible working hours.
  • An attractive salary supplemented with a company car and a broad package of extra-legal benefits.
  • You can count on reliable colleagues within the team who are very driven and committed.

Product & Services Manager – Radio & Messaging @ ASTRID

ASTRID is the specialized telecommunications operator for emergency and security services in Belgium. ASTRID provides reliable communication tools to the integrated police, fire brigades, medical emergency services, Defense, Customs, Civil Protection, and numerous other organizations, which are essential for carrying out their duties and ensuring citizen safety.
In 1998, ASTRID was founded on the initiative of federal and local authorities to guarantee a robust and reliable communication system for all emergency and security services in Belgium.

One shared platform:
Following the Heysel disaster and the Herald of Free Enterprise catastrophe, the federal government opted for one common communication system for all emergency and security services.
(ASTRID stands for All-round Semi-cellular Trunking Radio communication system with Integrated Dispatchings.)
Today, over 90,000 emergency responders use ASTRID solutions. Radios are the lifeline for emergency services personnel in the field. ASTRID makes every effort to guarantee this communication to the fullest extent possible, so that emergency services can focus on their core missions.
