Function
As a Java Engineer / Architect, you will take the technical lead on projects that impact millions of users. You will apply your expertise across two major domains: on the one hand, you will optimize the backend engine powering the Olympus app; on the other, you will build the complex API architecture that enables Olympus Mobility's services to be natively integrated into the KBC app. In this role, you will ensure the scalability of the microservices landscape and guide the team through complex technical decisions.
Your responsibilities include:
- Analyzing complex technical challenges and translating them into a future-proof IT architecture.
- Designing, developing, and maintaining robust Java microservices using Spring Boot, AWS, and Docker/Kubernetes.
- Overseeing and optimizing API integrations with major mobility partners (such as 4411 and De Lijn) and banking partner KBC.
- Providing constructive technical challenge by critically evaluating and redesigning existing structures, such as the transition to separate repositories for individual components.
- Coaching and mentoring less experienced colleagues (such as junior developer Jens) through hands-on guidance during development projects and partner meetings.
- Proactively contributing to process automation, codebase containerization, and the innovative application of generative AI within the software development lifecycle.
- Participating in a weekly rotating "firefighter" schedule to efficiently resolve second-line operational issues and bugs during business hours.
