Retail Applications Manager @ Neuhaus
AMCB04550
Function
Goal of the role
The main objective of the Retail Application Manager is to shape, streamline, and scale the entire retail and omnichannel application landscape at Neuhaus. You are the driving force behind the technology that supports every customer interaction—from physical boutiques and the webshop to customer service and personalized marketing.
In this role, you seamlessly bridge the gap between business strategy (Retail, E-commerce, Marketing, B2B) and IT architecture. You ensure that applications not only run stably and efficiently, but also directly contribute to international growth, higher customer satisfaction, and process-automated efficiency.
To achieve this, you leverage a unique "telescope" function: you can effortlessly zoom out to a strategic helicopter view (roadmaps, IT architecture, budgets, and acting as a sounding board for the CFO) as well as quickly zoom in on concrete, operational topics (hands-on configurations, setting up flows, incidents, and troubleshooting).
Tasks and responsibilities
Ownership of the Salesforce ecosystem
-
You hold ultimate responsibility for the Salesforce stack: Commerce Cloud, Service Cloud, Marketing Cloud, and Data Cloud.
-
You focus on smart configuration, automation, and platform optimization via Salesforce Flows and low-code capabilities, rather than heavy custom code.
-
You translate business needs from Retail, CRM, and Digital Marketing into scalable, future-proof platform solutions.
Strategy, architecture & roadmap
- You formulate the vision for the retail technology landscape and draft the multi-year roadmap for store and e-commerce platforms.
-
You manage the IT budget (including CapEx investments) and ensure a cost-effective and scalable implementation of new applications and functionalities.
-
You advise the CFO and management as a strategic sounding board on digital innovations and platform choices.
Data activation & integration
-
You ensure the consolidation and activation of customer and transactional data from boutiques, the webshop, B2B, and the Data Warehouse (on Azure) via Salesforce Data Cloud.
-
You enable advanced customer segmentation, personalization, and automated customer journeys (including within Neuhaus Insiders).
POS & store technology
- You manage and optimize the point-of-sale and store platform (POS) from both a functional and business perspective.
-
You lead rollout projects, updates, and integrations, setting priorities for physical boutiques worldwide.
Partner management
- You act as the director of and primary contact for external implementation partners and IT vendors.
-
You challenge external experts on both substance and budget, and oversee high-quality releases, deployments, and testing.
Team coaching & process optimization
-
You directly manage and coach the Retail Application Expert (the functional/technical powerhouse within the team).
-
You guide business users through training and change management to guarantee maximum adoption of the platforms.
-
You continuously identify opportunities for process optimization, efficiency gains (such as eliminating manual data entry), and the pragmatic application of AI.
Profile
Experience and education
-
You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (e.g., in IT, Business Engineering, Business Analytics, or a relevant economic field) and have at least 5 years of experience in application management, digital platforms, or business applications within a retail, omnichannel, or customer-oriented environment.
-
You have strong experience with enterprise platforms and application ecosystems. Thorough functional and technical knowledge of the Salesforce ecosystem (Service Cloud, Marketing Cloud, Commerce Cloud, and/or Data Cloud) is a crucial asset. Experience with B2B Commerce or Customer Data Platforms (CDP) is a major plus.
-
Configuration: You have hands-on experience with platform configuration, process optimization, and automation using low-code capabilities (such as Salesforce Flows). Your focus is on smart configuration, automation, and platform management rather than heavy customization.
-
You have insight into application architecture, API integrations, data flows, and data management (such as Data Warehouses on Azure). You understand how physical stores, webshops, B2B, and customer service merge into a seamless omnichannel customer journey.
-
You have experience leading projects, managing and challenging external IT partners, and coordinating diverse stakeholders across business and IT teams.
-
Experience with Point-of-Sale (POS) systems is a plus. Your primary strength here lies in prioritizing, challenging subject matter experts, and strictly managing implementation partners.
Competencies
-
You move effortlessly between thinking strategically about IT architecture with the CFO and pragmatically/hands-on resolving concrete configuration and process issues.
-
You combine business acumen with technical affinity. You can quickly translate business needs into scalable IT solutions and clearly explain complex technical concepts in accessible "watercooler language."
-
You take ownership of the entire retail ecosystem. You are result-driven, take initiative, and dare to defend choices and budgets to external partners and management.
-
You possess a 'can-do' mindset, are focused on continuous improvement and efficiency gains (such as eliminating manual tasks), and thrive in a no-nonsense environment.
-
You are capable of coaching the Retail Application Expert, strengthening their technical/functional expertise, and encouraging ownership.
-
You possess strong communication skills, are approachable, and collaborative, aligning perfectly with the close-knit and human SME dynamics of Neuhaus.
Language skills
-
Dutch and/or French: Excellent knowledge of Dutch and/or French is essential for smooth collaboration with colleagues at the Vlezenbeek headquarters and for supporting store operations.
-
English: Professional proficiency in English, both spoken and written, is required given the international context, vendor contact, and collaboration with the US branch.
