IT Manager @ Perpetum Energy

AMKP04295

Function

The IT Manager at PerPetum Energy is primarily responsible for building, managing, and continuously improving an IT environment that supports both the company’s operational continuity and its strategic growth. This role is essential for ensuring a professional, secure, and scalable IT infrastructure that underpins the execution of renewable energy projects and the company’s operational processes.

The position combines hands-on management of daily IT activities with strategic responsibility. The IT Manager ensures that all systems — from networks and servers to cloud infrastructure and IoT devices — operate efficiently and are fully secured. This includes both physical and virtual environments. In addition to the technical scope, the IT Manager plays a key role in digitalization and process optimization across the organization.

Tasks and Responsibilities

The IT Manager’s responsibilities are broad, as this is a stand-alone position that encompasses both strategic and operational dimensions.

IT infrastructure and systems
The IT Manager oversees the complete IT infrastructure, including physical and virtual servers, network equipment, cloud services (Azure), databases, Wi-Fi networks, and IoT devices. The role involves implementing monitoring systems, health checks, backups, and disaster recovery plans — including fallback scenarios for critical business processes.

Cybersecurity and compliance
The IT Manager holds end responsibility for cybersecurity and compliance, including the implementation and enforcement of NIS2 regulations, GDPR, ISO27001 readiness, and internal security policies.

Support & training
While first-line support is provided by an external consultant (two days per week), the IT Manager remains responsible for resolving IT issues. Additionally, they develop user manuals (as part of professionalization) and coach colleagues on digitalization and security awareness.

Budget and license management
The IT Manager manages the IT and digitalization budget, monitors license usage, and advises on investments in software, hardware, and infrastructure.

Stakeholder management
The IT Manager maintains close contact with internal stakeholders such as the CFO, HR, the Energy/Data Management team, and project managers, as well as external consultants and suppliers, including Cyberwise and Delaware.

Projects

SAP S/4HANA migration
The go-live is scheduled for January 2026, encompassing the transition of accounting, procurement, and logistics modules, followed by maintenance, service, and CRM modules. The IT Manager coordinates the integration of data and processes, including connections with the internal platform that collects and processes real-time data from solar panels, wind turbines, batteries, and EV charging points. The IT Manager ensures smooth integration between this data, the ERP system, and other tools, while optimizing performance and securing data.

Cybersecurity
Implementation of NIS2 regulation, ISO27001 readiness, encryption of IoT data, disaster recovery planning, and continuous monitoring of security incidents.

Document management
Evaluation of SharePoint, selection and implementation of a new document management system, automation of internal processes, and integration with ERP and other tools.

AI and digital tools
Implementation of AI-assisted legal software (potentially LegalFly) for contract management, integration of CRM (HubSpot) with ERP, and development of data-driven dashboards to support decision-making.

IT Manager @ Perpetum Energy

PerPetum Energy was founded in 2007 by Luc Leenknegt, initially as an installer of solar panels for private residences. The company quickly evolved from a local player into a renowned organization that develops renewable energy projects for commercial and industrial clients. Through a combination of technical expertise, innovative solutions, and a customer-oriented approach, PerPetum Energy has firmly positioned itself within the industrial decarbonization market. Over the years, the company has developed not only as an installer but also as an operator and investor in solar parks and other energy assets. PerPetum Energy currently employs around 60 people and operates from four locations, including its headquarters in Nazareth-De Pinte and offices in the Netherlands, France, and Germany.

PerPetum Energy specifically targets heavy industrial consumers and energy-intensive communities. The company’s strength lies in total unburdening — managing the full trajectory from development, construction, and investment to operational management. All solutions are tailor-made and financially sustainable, with investments often structured off-balance. Independence and flexibility are key pillars of the company’s philosophy. This approach has led to long-term partnerships with clients such as Aperam, ArcelorMittal, NMBS, Compagnie des Alpes (Bellewaerde), and several other industrial and commercial customers. Projects range from solar carports at tourist attractions such as Pairi Daiza (see adjacent image) to the largest solar park in Wallonia. PerPetum Energy also has experience with floating solar projects in France (including Europe’s largest floating solar park) and integrates wind energy where this creates optimal value.

The organizational structure is flat and focused on collaboration and transparency. Day-to-day management lies with CFO and Deputy CEO Wim Goethals, who, together with the management team, defines strategic choices and steers the company’s growth. HR is led by Carla Di Meo. The technical teams consist of highly educated engineers responsible for project development, construction, and monitoring. They operate in an intellectually stimulating environment where innovation, problem-solving, and pragmatic thinking are central.
