Function
Tasks and Responsibilities
As an Enterprise Architect, you will be responsible for the following:
- Ownership of Enterprise Architecture and Transformation Initiatives: Collaborating closely with senior business and IT stakeholders, you develop strategies and roadmaps, maintaining an enterprise-wide perspective.
- Translating Business Strategy into IT Architecture: You translate business strategies and objectives into an IT architecture for the development of systems and applications across the organization. You implement new or improved processes that efficiently contribute to achieving organizational goals.
- Leading the Architecture Board: You take the lead in setting up and organizing the Architecture Board. You establish and maintain Enterprise Architecture guidelines and documentation. You support the organization's digital transformation goals by co-developing and maintaining the enterprise architecture strategy, standards, and guidelines, and promoting best practices throughout the organization.
- Collaboration with Key Stakeholders: You work closely with program managers, project leaders, domain architects, solution designers, and product owners to ensure that proposed designs are fit for purpose and aligned with organizational objectives. Providing both solicited and unsolicited advice is part of your responsibilities.
- Supporting Risk and Dependency Management: You assist product owners, program managers, and project leaders in understanding the risks, dependencies, issues, and constraints in achieving objectives.
- Ensuring Governance and Assurance: You ensure that enterprise architecture deliverables are subject to the required governance and assurance activities.
- Mapping and Evaluating the IT Landscape: You map the current digital IT landscape and evaluate it, working with product owners and technical leads to identify opportunities for process improvement, system integration, and technology optimization, which are documented in application roadmaps. You understand not only the technological aspects but also the business context in which these technologies are applied.
- Staying Informed on Trends and Technologies: You stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in enterprise architecture and digital transformation within the context of Port of Antwerp-Bruges. You assess these trends for their potential impact (both threats and opportunities) on the company, stakeholders, costs, performance, or sustainability.
- Expertise in Specific Domains: You provide expertise in one or more domains such as integration methodologies, application development, data management, cloud technologies, or cyber resilience.
Reporting
In this role, you report to the Head of Digital, Hans Haverbeke.
Reason for the Vacancy
The importance of Enterprise Architecture at Port of Antwerp-Bruges has grown to such an extent that the organization can hardly imagine a future without it. Although the position does not involve direct budget responsibility, a significant total budget of 40 million euros is managed, of which 25% is related to change processes, highlighting the ongoing need to continue evolving and innovating.
Profile
Experience and Background
- You hold a master's degree or have equivalent experience.
- You have proven experience in one or more areas of enterprise architecture: business, information, application, or technology architecture.
- You can bridge the gap between technology and business needs and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Interacting with senior management and executive levels is part of the role. You combine formal and informal communication channels to achieve the desired results.
- You can identify the risks and benefits of technological innovations and translate these into recommendations to guide the evolution of the company's IT infrastructure.
- You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, maintaining an overview to translate complex business requirements into architectural designs.
- You are familiar with current practices in information management and digital/EA frameworks (such as TOGAF, Archimate).
- You can apply a wide range of technical and/or management principles, paired with a healthy dose of entrepreneurship.
- You have the ability to think abstractly and conceptually. When necessary, you can also delve into details to ensure clear decision-making.
