Function
As Director Data, you are more than an expert – you are a strategic leader who connects people, drives change and uses data as a lever for sustainable growth. More specifically, the goal is to translate the data vision into reality.
You are the driving force behind the development of the future-oriented data and AI strategy. You develop a robust data structure that enables innovation, customer focus and operational efficiency. Together with your team, you ensure that data is sustainably anchored in a high-performance and modern application landscape.
You develop a clear data strategy within a digital insurance context:
- You build an integrated data strategy that aligns with Baloise's digital roadmap and makes a difference in domains such as damage, life, customer service and sales;
- You support data-driven initiatives around risk management, fraud detection and automation, and strengthen data governance with attention to regulations such as GDPR and Solvency II.
You design and implement a future-oriented Target Operating Model (TOM):
- You build a scalable and agile data organization that perfectly matches Baloise's evolving IT landscape and cloud migrations;
- Together with Enterprise Architecture, you ensure seamless integration of data flows and platforms such as a DWH, data lake or AI environment. You continuously coordinate with internal stakeholders such as Business, IT, Risk & Compliance.
You manage the data department in line with the digital strategy:
- As the driving force behind the data domain, you monitor capacity, budget and the execution of the roadmap. You lead teams that are active in data engineering, AI/ML, business intelligence and governance;
- Together with other board members, you translate the data strategy into tangible business impact on a global scale.
You inspire and strengthen your teams:
- You coach domain product managers and release train engineers in an agile work environment;
- You stimulate multidisciplinary collaboration, strengthen leadership within teams and support the evolution towards more maturity in product ownership, agile delivery and data-driven work.
Profile
- As an ideal candidate for the role of Director Data at Baloise, you have a strong combination of strategic insight, technological expertise and people-oriented leadership;
- You know how to create real business value with data and you inspire those around you to help build a future-oriented data landscape;
- Master's degree;
- At least 10 years of experience in data and technology projects, preferably in the financial or insurance sector or another service sector;
- Proven experience in developing a data strategy as part of digital transformation programs;
- You have a thorough knowledge of data platforms, governance and digital ecosystems;
- You have knowledge of Microsoft technologies such as Fabric, Purview and Databricks;
- Insight into IT architectures, SaaS solutions;
- Experience in coaching managers and managing multidisciplinary teams.
