The festive 10th edition of This is IT has come to an end. On 21 November, the Belgian IT and HR community’s finest came together at the MeetDistrict in Ghent to celebrate coaching leadership, to informally network, be inspired and have fun. We invite you recap this latest edition with us and enjoy…or reminisce!
During this memorable event, we were treated to a talk by keynote speaker Linda Nazareth who convinced us that ‘the workplace’ does not actually exist. Shortly thereafter, Bahadir Samli, CIO of ING Belgium, received his newly earned ICT & Digital Coach of the Year 2024 award. He then shared with us his most important lesson for coaching leaders: “Everything starts with really listening to your people. Keep your door open and take care of them.”

It is quite unique that you bring together 2 disciplines – HR and IT – that should actually be very close to each other. In practice, this still happens far too little. Both domains can also learn from each other here. Furthermore, the whole flow of the evening is very nice; an interesting keynote, excellent contacts made and an amazing concert.

Many guests were also eagerly awaiting the closing act of the evening: Joost Zweegers of Novastar. This great gentleman illustrated what talent can do – in this case boundless musical skills that we were allowed to enjoy in this unique intimate setting.

I find it very interesting to network with colleagues from other companies. How they experience the market, how they approach it, what they struggle with. Sometimes to also share our struggles and see if they have a different perspective on it. I just find that very fascinating.
