Roularta Media Group is continuously investing in the further digitalization of its media platforms and mission-critical processes (such as editorial systems, e-commerce, and printing operations). To ensure this evolution proceeds securely within a hybrid landscape—encompassing on-premise infrastructure, cloud environments, in-house software development, and managed services—a robust and scalable security architecture is essential.
As a Security Architect, you will take the lead—both substantively and technically—in structurally strengthening information security at Roularta. You will combine security architecture, governance (ISMS), and hands-on security activities, with a focus on effectively implementing and embedding security within systems and processes. You will act as a bridge between strategic guidelines (provided by the vCISO), the ISO 27001 framework, and the technical realities faced by IT, OT, and development teams. You will serve as the central authority, making key technical decisions and ensuring that security becomes an inherent part of the entire digital value chain.
- Security by Design & Architecture: Evaluate and challenge IT, cloud, and software designs (including threat modeling, API security, and authentication security), and ensure that "security by design" is integrated into all ongoing projects.
- ISMS, Risk & Compliance: Take internal ownership of the ISMS (including ISO 27001 compliance), conduct risk assessments, define KPIs, and translate vCISO guidelines into actionable policies.
- Roadmap & Continuous Improvement: Identify security gaps and, in collaboration with the vCISO and IT leadership, develop a prioritized roadmap and concrete improvement initiatives.
- Incident Response & Hands-on Security: Work closely with the SOC and security partners during incidents, oversee vulnerability management and system hardening, and implement structural mitigations.
- Partner Management & Audits: Oversee external security vendors, focusing on quality and knowledge transfer; handle client questionnaires and audit assessments.
- Culture & Stakeholder Management: Translate complex risks into clear impacts for the business and IT; drive awareness and actively build a security-first culture.
Profile
The ideal Security Architect at Roularta is a pragmatic, content-driven professional with a solid technical foundation and a broad perspective on modern cybersecurity, security-by-design, and threat modeling. You hold a master’s degree (or possess an equivalent level of expertise gained through experience) and have at least 5 to 8 years of relevant, hands-on experience. We welcome both seasoned specialists ready to transition into a broader architectural role and experienced senior architects capable of taking the lead autonomously from day one. Rather than being a purely theoretical policy-maker or a specialized tester/developer, you are a versatile bridge-builder who understands hybrid IT/OT environments, cloud solutions, networks, APIs, and identity-based security, and who can seamlessly integrate security measures into ongoing projects. You combine technical leadership with a constructively critical mindset: you challenge solution architects and developers on technical matters, clearly translate technical risks for the business, and effectively steer external partners—such as the SOC and MSSPs—to ensure the quality and delivery of their work. Experience with secure coding, frameworks like ISO 27001, or professional certifications (such as CISSP, CCSP, or SABSA) is a significant asset; however, what matters most is your ability to pragmatically resolve risks rather than merely managing them on paper. Finally, you possess excellent communication skills in Dutch and professional proficiency in English, with a basic knowledge of French being a distinct advantage within our bilingual media group.
