Data Engineer
AM.S04020
Function
In addition to optimizing the current data infrastructure and processes, the Data Engineer will further develop and expand the existing reporting systems. The foundation for these reports has already been laid in Power BI, but a solid professional is now needed who can optimize these systems so that they actually provide valuable, operational and strategic insights. The goal is to not only support the organization with day-to-day work, but also to prepare it for future growth by translating data insights into concrete improvements in operations.
Kidslife wants to reduce dependency on external partners, giving them more control over their data and processes. This makes the Data Engineer position even more important, as this person must build the internal knowledge and skills so that the company is self-sufficient in data in the future. The Data Engineer will play a key role in developing data knowledge and justifying strategic data applications beyond the current need, with a focus on further improving data quality and insight.
Duties and Responsibilities
- The Data Engineer will play a crucial role in improving the data infrastructure and evangelizing the importance of data within the organization. This person will be responsible for formulating clear requests for data and reports and must have a good understanding of how data works within the business process.
- The Data Engineer must be able to establish and manage data structures that form the basis for future reporting and analysis capabilities. This includes a focus on creating scalable solutions and ensuring data quality.

- The Data Engineer must be actively involved in promoting the importance of data, encouraging colleagues to make data-driven decisions and sharing knowledge within the organization.
Projects
- The biggest challenges for the Data Engineer lie in setting up validated data sources, implementing predictive data analysis methods and igniting AI initiatives. Currently, data sources are still managed externally, but the goal is to bring it fully in-house. AS-IS reporting is currently in use, but the organization wants to take reporting to the next level. The ambition is to move to to-be reports that use predictive analytics.
- In two years, the Data Engineer team wants to have built a solid data infrastructure. The Data Engineer will then become the internal point of contact for data, with responsible choices and streamlined processes. The ambition is that this person will also grow into a leadership role over the data component, managing projects, monitoring progress and taking initiative for necessary improvements.
- The Data Engineer role is overarching, with many different projects touching both IT and data teams. The Data Engineer will be instrumental in making the right connections between these projects and ensuring coherent integration of data and IT processes.
