Data & Application Analyst @ Sunconfex

AM.S04438

Function

Purpose of the Role

As a Data & Application Analyst, you will be the key figure who, in the initial phase, transforms data into the strategic engine driving Sunconfex's continued international growth. Today, the organization possesses a vast amount of operational data, but it is not yet fully leveraged to manage the business in a structured way. You will bridge the crucial gap between shop-floor business processes, IT systems, and management. In a later phase, your scope will broaden to encompass the entire application landscape, with a major milestone being a group-wide ERP migration.

The role features a clear, two-phase structure with a major impact across the entire group:

  • Phase 1: Shaping the Data Landscape & Reporting: You will dive deep into the organization and map out the needs of all departments (Sales, Supply Chain, Production, Procurement, Quality). You will design a group-wide data model and a central data warehouse structure, bring structure to master data, and build sleek, relevant KPI dashboards that actually get used (collaborating with an external partner for technical Power BI development).

  • Phase 2: Strategic Group ERP Project: Once the foundation is in place and you know the business inside out, you will play a key role in the blueprint, selection, and international rollout of a new, overarching Group ERP across all European sites, replacing the current ERP (ISP Vision) and peripheral applications.

In this role, you receive a unique, company-wide mandate where you will work closely with the Head of IT and directly advise the CEO. You will help department heads "read the data" and enable the organization to make well-founded decisions for the future.

Tasks and Responsibilities

Business Analysis & Data Modeling (Phase 1 Focus)

  • Requirements & Process Analysis: Actively engage cross-functionally with department heads (Sales & Customer Service, Supply Chain Logistics, Procurement, Product Costing & Pricing, Manufacturing, and Quality) to analyze their information needs and operational challenges.

  • Data Model Design & Master Data: Design and shape a solid, group-wide data model and data warehouse concept (replacing current ad-hoc relational Power BI reports).

  • Master Data Governance: Structure master data in the ERP (e.g., article classifications, inventory, and procurement data) in collaboration with the Head of IT to guarantee data integrity.

  • Power BI & KPI Dashboards: Translate defined KPIs into clear reporting templates and functionalities; direct and monitor the technical partner during physical construction in Power BI, and thoroughly test deliverables upon handover.

ERP Optimization & Future Group ERP Migration (Phase 2 Focus)

  • Current ERP Optimization: Examine possibilities within the current ERP (ISP Vision) and peripheral applications (e.g., Yolosoft for production planning, Absolute for accounting) to set up processes pragmatically and ease operational pressure.

  • New ERP Blueprint: Starting around year 1.5, help lead the preparation, analysis, package selection, and blueprint design for the new international Group ERP across all sites (Belgium, Germany, UK, Czech Republic).

  • Process Mapping & Functional Specifications: Support the Software Engineer and ERP Administrator by clearly elaborating functional analyses (UML/BPMN) and translating them into technical specifications.

Change Management, AI & Project Management

  • Change Management & User Adoption: Guide and train department heads and employees to work in a data-driven manner ("Learn to read the data"), focusing on genuine adoption on the shop floor rather than mere implementation.

  • Pragmatic Project Management: Take charge of your own projects (e.g., via MS Planner) and monitor progress, budgets, and feasibility.

  • AI & Automation Opportunities: Actively explore how emerging technologies (e.g., MS Copilot / AI automation) can accelerate process improvements and reporting efficiency within Sunconfex.

Profile

Experience and Background

  • Education: Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business Engineering, Business Economics, ICT / Computer Science)—or a Bachelor’s degree with an equivalent level gained through relevant, proven work experience.

  • Work Experience:

    • At least 2 to 5+ years of experience in a similar role (Business Analyst, BI Specialist, Data Analyst, or Analytics Engineer). For candidates coming from a consultancy background, experience with projects within a manufacturing and/or logistics environment is an absolute requirement.

    • Proven experience in analyzing and mapping business processes across multiple domains (e.g., Sales, Supply Chain, Inventory Management, Production, Procurement, or Finance).

    • Experience with multi-site structures and international business contexts is a major asset.

  • Knowledge of Business Software & Data:

    • Solid, practical knowledge of Power BI (from gathering requirements and data modeling to DAX and dashboard design).

    • Good basic knowledge of relational databases, data structures, and query languages (SQL Server / PostgreSQL).

    • Experience with or a strong understanding of ERP systems (e.g., ISP Vision, SAP, Dynamics, or similar) and peripheral applications (e.g., WMS, MES, or YoloSoft). Knowledge of process modeling (BPMN / UML) is a plus.

Competencies

  • Strong Analytical & Process Insight: Ability to quickly understand complex business processes, identify bottlenecks, and translate them into logical data models, clear KPIs, and functional ERP specifications.

  • Pragmatic Generalist & 'Can-Do' Mindset: Always searching for workable, efficient solutions that fit a no-nonsense SME culture. No over-engineering or theoretical models for the sake of it, but 'value for money' and fast, tangible results for the business.

  • Connecting & Communicative: You speak the language of both the shop floor/business and IT/software developers. You naturally and persuasively build buy-in among department heads and staff.

  • Project Management & Ownership: You are an active doer who takes ownership of projects, not a passive thinker. You structure your own work pragmatically (e.g., via MS Planner), safeguard delivery deadlines, and maintain a critical eye on budgets.

  • Assertiveness: You ask the right, critical questions of the business ("Why do we do it this way?") and dare to act as a full sparring partner and advisor to the Head of IT and the CEO.

Language Skills

  • Dutch: Excellent oral and written proficiency (working language on the shop floor in Ypres and with executive management).

  • English: Fluent professional level in speaking and writing (essential for communicating with international sites in the UK, Germany, Czech Republic, and external partners).

  • German: Knowledge of German is a great plus given the production site in Leipheim, but not required.

Offer

  • In this brand-new, strategic role, you will have a direct impact where your analyses and data models directly influence company growth and executive board/CEO decisions.
  • The dynamics, pragmatism, and short decision lines of a no-nonsense SME combined with the ambition, stability, and challenges of an international market leader offer the best of both worlds.

  • This is not a one-dimensional job; you will get to know every corner of a modern manufacturing and distribution company (from Sales to Manufacturing and Supply Chain).

  • You join a highly challenging roadmap starting with building the BI/data warehouse foundation and growing into an international ERP transformation project.

  • Sunconfex features a flat organizational structure where everyone collaborates toward a shared goal.

  • Competitive salary package including a company car, meal vouchers, insurances, holiday allowance, and year-end bonus. Engagement on a freelance basis is also possible.
