These investments however also entail multiple fun, nice-to-have and not unimportant points of attraction, such as:

  • Every year the company participates in the Ten Miles and the Hercules Trophy. Because let's face it: working up a sweat together with your colleagues is the ideal team building activity, isn't it?

  • Because food is an important source of energy, A.S. Adventure provides fruit and ginger tea, among other things.

  • When you work at the headquarters in Hoboken, you can participate in boot camp and yoga sessions, petanque competitions and the annual camping evening. Socializing with colleagues and waking up in the morning in a tent with a view of the Hobokense Polders… Yes, A.S. Adventure takes 'adventure is everywhere' seriously!

  • A.S. Adventure is a sponsor of De Warmste Week every year. They donate a nice amount to Music For Life and they provide the presenters of Studio Brussel with all the necessary material. This way they can spend their week in the cold as comfortably as possible.

  • Twice a year the company has their employees complete a satisfaction survey. This way they know what really matters to the employees and they can respond quickly to the needs.

  • The headquarters have undergone a complete renovation and expansion, with ample space and facilities for meeting (both formal and informal), secluded spaces when you really need to focus on a task, standing desks and spaces where you can just chat with your colleagues.

BI Development Team Lead @ AS Adventure

A.S. Adventure Group (Global HQ Hoboken) is an international omnichannel and multi-brand retail chain that focuses on outdoor and active leisure experiences.

The company started as American Stockhouse (hence the abbreviation A.S.) in Antwerp, where the Lathouwers family sold  military equipment that got left behind by the American liberators after WW II, such as tents, sleeping bags and household items. In 1995, Emiel Lathouwers realized that leisure activities, adventure travel and connection with nature were gaining in importance in an increasingly stressed society, thus he invented a completely new concept with a unique combination of travel, outdoor, fashion and action products: the first A.S. Adventure store in Schoten was born.

In 2000, the international A.S. Adventure Group was founded through collaboration with the British chain Cotswold Outdoor and the Dutch chain Bever.

Since then, the Belgian retail chain grew into a fast-growing retail group with more than 3,000 employees and 256 stores spread across Belgium and Luxembourg, the Netherlands, France, the UK and Germany – the largest outdoor market in Europe.

The group is now the European market leader in outdoor retailing and realized a turnover of more than 500 million euros in 2016. This enables the company to continue to invest in the development of its (digital) services and products.

The group realizes its continuous growth through strategic acquisitions and by diversifying its store concepts. F.e., in addition to the 'Large' and 'City' outdoor stores that focus on active leisure experiences, sports enthusiasts can visit specialized 'Snow, Run & Bike Stores’. In 2015, sustainable fashion stores JUTTU and YAYA were launched with 9 stores today distributed in Belgium.
