Function
As a System Engineer, you play a key role in optimizing and managing IT infrastructure across multiple locations. Your responsibilities include enhancing the infrastructure environment through project management tasks such as implementing (cloud) solutions, enabling mobile work options, securing data and devices, and overseeing daily IT operations, including servers, networks, and systems, to ensure continuity and stability. This role demands both technical expertise and strong project management skills. By combining strategic and operational responsibilities, the System Engineer ensures that technical solutions meet current requirements while remaining adaptable to future developments. The ultimate goal is to enhance employee productivity and flexibility within a secure and high-performing IT environment.
As a System Engineer, you are a generalist. Depending on your competencies, experience, and ambitions, you will focus on multiple supported subdomains:
Datacenter
- Server Management: Responsible for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of primarily physical servers.
- Backup and Recovery: Ensure consistent backups and implement a robust disaster recovery plan.
- Patch Management: Keep systems and software up to date to reduce security risks.
- User Administration: Create, manage, and maintain user accounts and access rights.
Network
- Network Configuration and Maintenance: Manage routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs to ensure a stable and secure network.
- Network Security: Apply security protocols to protect the network from attacks, such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, and encryption.
- Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Continuously monitor network performance and quickly resolve issues.
- Cloud Integration: Implement and manage cloud solutions (e.g., Intune) to improve collaboration and access to company resources.
- Mobile Device Management (MDM), including Telephony: Manage and secure mobile devices to enable safe remote working for employees.
- Application Management: Implement, update, and support collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams.
IT Security
- Endpoint Security: Implement and manage antivirus, anti-malware, and endpoint protection on all devices.
- Compliance and Audits: Ensure the IT environment meets corporate and regulatory requirements
Support for Production Processes
- IT Support for Production Environments: Ensure a stable IT infrastructure that supports production systems.
- Troubleshooting: Provide rapid response and recovery in the event of disruptions to maintain continuity in production processes.
- Innovation and Optimization: Analyze and improve processes by integrating IT solutions into production activities (e.g., IoT, automation).
Profile
Experience and Background
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in an IT-related field or equivalent through experience.
- Several years of relevant work experience.
- A strong interest in production environments.
- In-depth knowledge of IT landscapes and a broad understanding of technologies such as the Microsoft stack, VMware, Microsoft Azure, servers, Backup & Recovery solutions, Networking, Firewalls, Cyber Security, etc.
- Willingness to travel occasionally.
- Prepared to participate in an on-call duty rotation system.
