Senior Business Analist @ Agentschap Natuur & Bos

As a senior business analyst, you provide both business and functional analysis of parallel running projects. As an analyst, you take on responsibilities from the start of a new project.

  • You carry out business and requirements analyses and identify the relevant user stories in the analysed epics/features and draw up a story map, always starting from data warehouse concepts.
  • You perform process analyses from business analysis to implementation.
  • You make functional analyses on the basis of screen descriptions and wireframes.
  • You enter into dialogue with widely differing business stakeholders such as green workers, foresters, nature inspectors, file handlers, etc.
  • You translate the business needs smoothly into technical requirements for the developers.
  • You facilitate and manage umbrella information systems that are essential for conducting an integrated and data-driven policy on the environment.
  • You organise and supervise workshops to identify, define and analyse requirements on the basis of personas and/or story mapping.

  • You have at least 3 years of experience in a similar function.
  • You adapt your communication style to your target audience (forester vs. developer).
  • You are customer oriented and have experience in thinking with the customer and reducing expectations of the business to the available budget.
  • You have experience in organising and leading workshops to identify, define and analyse requirements. One of the techniques you master is working with personas and story mapping.
  • You have knowledge of data warehouse concepts.
  • You have extensive knowledge of BPMN and UML.
  • Knowledge of Enterprise Architect, Archimate and the Volere template are a plus.
  • You have experience in screen descriptions and wireframes as support for functional analysis.
  • You have knowledge of the Atlassian Suite (reporting in JIRA and Tempo and documentation in Confluence).
  • Experience with geodata is a plus.
  • You are familiar with the concepts of a scrum framework.

  • You will work in a very innovative environment with a data-driven set-up and modern technologies (SQL and noSQL, gis, blockchain, Azure, AWS, BI, IoT, etc.).
  • As an analyst, you will carry out projects in a social context and have a direct impact on the fauna and flora of today and tomorrow: ensuring that there are more trees, ensuring that indigenous animals have a habitat again, ensuring a balance between wild boar, wolf, deer, etc.
  • Protecting nature, experiencing nature and valorising nature are the vision of the Agency you will be contributing to.
  • Typical for the culture is a very collegial cooperation between IT and business and a passionate, pragmatic context.
  • A role with visibility and impact. You will have the opportunity to take on an organisational role that will bring you into contact with all the tasks and processes within an IT department.
  • You will be part of a people-oriented company with a focus on employee wellbeing and a good work-life balance.  You will work with flexible working hours, the latest forms of flexible working and many opportunities to work from home.
  • You will be working in a flat culture where initiative and goal-orientation are appreciated and where you are given the necessary freedom to pursue your objectives

Senior Business Analist @ Agentschap Natuur & Bos

The Flemish government's Agency for Nature and Forests cherishes, protects and develops more than 90,000 hectares of natural areas, forests and parks in Flanders.

The Agency for Nature and Forests supports valuable nature projects with financial support and expertise. From planting your own forest, to initiatives that strive for a higher quality of nature, to connecting projects for accessible nature in your neighbourhood. Under the motto 'more, better and together', Natuur en Bos, together with various partners, creates a larger support base for nature.

the Agency employes 667 people, thus realising an enormous impact on nature and animal protection. For example, the Agency managed € 52 million in subsidies, which, among other things, enabled the creation of 350 ha of new forest, the management of more than 300 nature reserves, the setting up of 16 nature development projects and 25 species protection programmes, and the granting of 20,000 permits and advice. In addition, diversity is a major concern within the organisation, with more than a doubling of employees with a migrant background between 2015 and 2020.
