Security Analyst @ Komatsu



The newly created role at Komatsu as Security Analyst, will have four core missions:

Working technically: 

  • Day-to-day management of an ISMS (Information Security Management system) (monitoring, reporting, escalation, quality assurance …);
  • Participating in risk management programs;
  • Leading the practical/tactical activities needed to prevent impact of cyber threats & vulnerabilities. For this task the Security Analyst works closely together with the global C-SIRT, SOC and any other organization involved in preventing/detecting cyber threats. (planning, monitoring, reporting …).

Governance & training: 

  • This role takes a management point of view, focusing on policy implementation, policy reviews, conducting awareness training, setting up governance meetings, and overseeing penetration testing;
  • Writing and reviewing relevant (linked to information security) policies and procedures as/when needed, assuring they adhere to the required standards (content, layout …) and make sure they are approved by all stakeholders;
  • Providing day to day guidance to members of the ICT team with respect to practical/actual requirements in area’s like Secure Software Development, OT etc. 
  • Training of policies

The strategic implementation of the security measures throughout the organization:

  • Assisting in developing Komatsu Security strategy in accordance with the business goals of Komatsu Europe; 
  • Participating in performing the Komatsu security controls and assisting in reporting of security risks to the management.

Building a team:

  • Building a team with significant responsibilities and ample room for impactful contributions;
  • Collaborating closely with the Security Officer.

Security is top of mind within Komatsu so a lot of interesting projects will be on the roadmap:

  • Global standardization of security related tools
  • Compliancy: getting ISO 27001 certified and creating and repeating awareness around the policies
  • Building a solid ISMS 
  • Implementation XDR/NDR related projects
  • Setting up a supplier approval portal
  • Building a European CSIRT team


Background and experience

  • Professional bachelor or master in information technology or (demonstrably) equivalent knowledge through experience. Preferably complemented by one or more information security related certificates (example : CISSP, CISM, CISMP,  CEH, ISO27001 implementer…);
  • At least 3 years of working experience in the information security domain (network security, application security, information security audit …) preferably backed up by at least 2 years hands-on experience as system engineer (networking, firewalls, servers, cloud, AD …);
  • Knowledge of and experience with compliance requirements (GDPR, SOX, NIS) and information security frameworks (CIS, ISO27001, Cobit) are a definite asset; 
  • Experience with implementing/managing and running an ISMS underpinning all the above is required;
  • Experience in conducting training sessions is desirable, as the role involves facilitating awareness;
  • A flexible profile is sought, given that the security aspect is still evolving. The candidate should find motivation in shaping the new security landscape.

  • Proficiency in both English and Dutch is preferred. However, proficiency in English alone is also acceptable.

Security Analyst @ Komatsu

Komatsu is one of the largest worldwide manufacturers of construction, mining and utility equipment, and also delivers forest machines and logistics. They have manufacturing operations across the globe, including in Japan, Asia, America and Europe. Komatsu has been present in Europe since 1967, where they have several production plants. The headquarters of Komatsu Europe is located in Vilvoorde.

Komatsu Europe International, located in Vilvoorde, is the European Headquarter of the Komatsu Group, which is based in Tokyo, Japan. 

After first being located in Antwerp and Haren (Brussels), KEISA was set up in Vilvoorde in 1973. They import and distribute Komatsu construction, mining and utility equipment to European and North African countries and supervise European legal and financial operations.

Komatsu Europe Parts Operation is the Parts Distribution Center for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Stocks of Komatsu Genuine Parts and consumables are maintained centrally at the KEPO warehouse, in Vilvoorde. A sophisticated central parts system is directly linked to Komatsu Sales and Service Organizations across Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

Currently there are almost 300 people working at the Komatsu Europe Headquarters and Parts distribution center in Vilvoorde: technical experts, sales profiles, logistic and administrative staff, etc.
