Head of Business Intelligence @ Group S

The current IT team, led by the CIDO has 130 employees. In addition, certain projects and services are also outsourced to external partners. The IT & Digital team's mission is to create a modern and high-performance digital landscape in order to contribute to Group S's strategic business goals in an effective and scalable way.

Due to the different services and solutions, there is a very wide range of technologies within Group S. These range from existing legacy (e.g. the central payroll engine where certain components will be converted to a new technology stack) to highly innovative apps.

The Head of Business Intelligence will set up and manage a central data competence centre and, from this role, help steer the organisation's ambitious digital journey. Also in the context of new ERP and CRM developments.

As a member of the IT Management team, the Head of Business Intelligence will also help to shape the data governance and data processes, and to further evolve the new ERP and CRM in that direction.

As Head of Business Intelligence, you are responsible for forming and leading the team that focuses on data and BI-related activities within Group S. Spread across the organisation, this is approximately 10 employees. You will lead the team that focuses on efficiently and effectively managing the BI initiatives and resources within the organisation to provide valuable insights and improve decision-making across the various business domains (ERP, CRM, sales, finance, operations, procurement, etc.).

This person will help shape the role, operation of the team and prioritisation in tasks.

As Head of Business Intelligence, you will combine technical leadership with project management and team management skills to ensure that BI and data activities are executed effectively and they also contribute to the success of the organisation.

To be successful in the role, experience in driving data and BI activities is required. Ideally in relation to CRM and ERP, within a complex context where collaboration with various stakeholders is important. Experience in subject matter: social secretariat, HR, and/or the technologies used is a plus, not a requirement.

You have leadership skills to effectively manage a team. This includes the ability to define a BI and data vision and strategy, set goals, give direction to the team and motivate people to reach their full potential. You are also strong at communicating and encourage collaboration.

You have a strong technical background and in-depth knowledge of BI and data technologies, frameworks and practices, ideally within Microsoft technologies. You must be able to understand technical issues, make technical decisions and guide the team in implementing the best technical solutions.

Good project management skills, such as being able to plan, organise, monitor and coordinate projects, and follow up on budgets, are important. You can set realistic deadlines, allocate resources effectively, manage risks and deliver projects within set targets and constraints.

You have an energetic and optimistic nature. With a pragmatic and people-oriented approach, you can grow your team in a positive way.

Active mother tongue knowledge of at least 1 of the national languages (Dutch/French), as well as a professional level of the other language. This can also be learned further on-the-job or via the internal training offered.

You are energetic and optimistic by nature. With a pragmatic and people-oriented approach, you can grow your team in a positive way.

Data and BI is a relatively new domain for Group S in which a lot of (new) development is still possible. There are already various initiatives, but they need to be driven more centrally. This team therefore creates very high added value for the entire company.

This role is therefore extremely important. There is a wide playing field, where the role holder will have a lot of autonomy to shape the new vision of the future himself. Of course, also in consultation with other members of the IT management team and other stakeholders.

The organisation is characterised by a warm culture, great collegiality and the ambition to innovate. Group S distinguishes itself in the market with a bold strategic programme that also puts very strong emphasis on technology. In other words, the role holder will have many opportunities and the ability to bring added value in various domains.
