Global IT Director Strategy, Governance and Corporate IT @ Bekaert



As IT Strategy & Governance Leader, you drive the common IT management capabilities that enable well-run IT operations (run the business), as well as provide innovative, new strategic business contributions (grow the business). In this position, you drive the capability in the IT organization to “do the right things” through strategy, portfolio management, governance and compliance management as well as “doing things right” through operating model optimization and performance management. In this role, you will take the lead in a breakthrough change trajectory to further introduce and embed the SAFe Model in the Bekaert organization. 

In your role as Corporate IT Leader (Product Group Enterprise) you lead and deliver the right products for a diverse set of Corporate Functions. You build strong relationships with the Corporate Functional teams (Finance, HR, Purchase, Legal, …); you shape their technology vision and own the execution roadmap.  In close alignment with the corresponding corporate leaders, you are, in a “two in a box” leadership model responsible for business outcomes driven by technology products.  Together with the business teams and a team of experienced solution architects, technical experts and a global service delivery team, you drive the end-to-end corporate processes to successful innovation, execution, and renewal, whilst developing new skills and talent in the IT and business organization.

The Strategy, Governance and Corporate IT Leader reports directly to the CIO, and is a member of the Global IT Leadership Team.  This position is ideally based in one of the larger Bekaert IT hubs being Belgium, China or India, this to accelerate the organizational capability building and team development.  


For this position as IT Leader and a key player in this breakthrough and ambitious digital transformation program, we are looking for a candidate with the following background and experience:

  • 10+ years experience in a leadership position in an inter/multinational organization, with 5+ years of demonstrated experience leading high-performing cohesive teams, as well as successful partnership with middle and senior management.
  • Leadership experience in business/industry (beyond IT), transformations,  leading cross-functional teams or projects, influencing senior level management and key stakeholders.
  • Experience in building strategies and roadmaps for corporate functions, budget planning, and workforce management.
  • Experience managing (internal and external) teams in application / ERP product development, implementation and management.
  • Experience managing in an organization primarily using agile / SAFE development methodologies is a plus.
  • You have shown to be successful in leading diverse teams to breakthroughs. 
  • A strong leadership capability, executing as appropriate. 
  • A strategic mindset and a global perspective, analytical and cultivating innovation.
  • Strong analytical, data processing and problem-solving skills, proficiency in process formulation and improvement
  • High drive for results, whilst driving vision and purpose.  You excel in managing execution, from planning, aligning, to timely roll-out.
  • Strong organization skills, the ability to perform under pressure and management of multiple priorities with competing demands for resources.
  • Proven ability to collaborate, build relationships and influence individuals at all levels in a matrix-management environment (as well as external vendors and service providers) to ensure that segregation and overlapping roles are identified and coordinated.
  • Ability to lead, enable, empower and motivate teams as well as individuals by providing advice and guidance in a non-judgmental fashion.
  • You have excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain technology solutions in business terms, establish strong relations and persuade others.
