Itsme is looking for a Cloud & System Engineer to strengthen the team, to assist in implementing new features while ensuring meticulous attention to detail and maintaining stability of itsme. Maintaining operational efficiency and stability is paramount to the team's objectives. Therefore, monitoring systems and processes is crucial to promptly address any issues that may arise. Collaboration with developers to implement new features is also a key aspect of the role, ensuring that updates are seamlessly integrated into the existing infrastructure. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the national and international expansion of Itsme, contributing to its continued growth and success within the digital identity sphere.
Tasks and responsibilities
In this role, the Senior System & Network Cloud Engineer will be accountable for:
- Installation, configuration and monitoring Linux operating systems
- Automating deployment, scaling and management of the containerized applications in a public cloud environment (e.g. setting up new infrastructure components with terraform, and automated pipelines)
- Implementation/configuration of security standards (i.e. NIST, OWASP);
- Managing problems and (security) incidents (e.g. increased error rates in the itsme components, …):
- Identifying the “root causes” of problems (i.e. root cause analysis at every level of the solution (application, network, infrastructure, storage,…);
- Assisting developers with database setups and structure to maintain the integrity, performance and efficiency of the systems;
- Assisting colleagues in the team when help is needed on incident resolution or other tasks.
- Troubleshooting of encrypted (SSL/TLS) traffic up to TCP/IP level and implement PKI at infrastructure level;
- Implement automations for recurring tasks that are done manually.
Profile
Background and experience
- Experience in a cloud environment (preferably Azure)
- Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code software: terraform
- Experience in Linux Systems setup, configuration and management
- Experience with basic networking protocols: TCP, IP, HTTP, …
- Experience with container technologies: Kubernetes, AKS, containerd,…
- Plus: Knowledge of firewall / loadbalancer configuration and maintenance
- Plus: Knowledge of scripting languages: python, golang, …
- Plus: Knowledge of databases: MySQL (IaaS, PaaS).
