Precisely twelve years ago, Christophe VanDriessche founded his own recruitment agency in a cramped office on the sixth floor of the Maaltecenter: Amon. Everyone thought he’d gone mad because there were so many already but “we didn’t give a damn because we had tons of energy and we were going to conquer the world”, Christophe remembers with a smile.
And did they deliver? Well, as a household name in the world of IT and digital recruitment and with - according to many customers - a golden address book containing over 40,000 contacts, we have managed to win the hearts of many HR departments and have found the ideal colleague or manager for countless ICT services.
“Our very first customer was Ad Ultima. The fact that a leading firm of this calibre still calls on our services after twelve years is testament to our tireless efforts. We pull out all the stops for our clients and identifying the perfect candidate still gives us a mental high. It’s like our staff say: the recruitment business is often a rollercoaster, with lots of stress followed by a rewarding mental release.”
Christophe continues: “There have been so many memorable moments over the years. I proudly remember the milestones we have reached as a company - such as the purchase of our own offices in Ghent, or the first time our turnover topped €2 million - but also the moments when we celebrated our successes as a team with unforgettable city trips to Barcelona, Lisbon and Istanbul.”
Amon thinks the world of its team of professionals. “They are all unique, passionate and enterprising individuals who do a stellar job. That is precisely why DataNews nominated us for Best ICT Sourcing Company”, says Christophe. “It’s very gratifying to see that the people I recruited years ago as our third and fourth staff members, Steven De Poortere and Klaas Bernaert, are still with us today. Meanwhile they’ve advanced to managing partner and managing consultant. Also, two colleagues who have been with us for five and six years, respectively, were celebrated with lots of ceremony. The icing on the cake was the ESF recognition for our internal HR policy.”
“We continue to think out of the box. We may be a recruiting agency but our main goal is to provide added value for the digital and ICT community. We want to reward companies who go beyond the call of duty for their IT staff. That is the central theme of this year’s ‘This is IT’ event. We’ll be presenting a brand-new award: ICT & Digital Coach of the Year. Any IT employee can nominate his or her team coach for this award. The winner will walk away with an event check for €7,500”, Christophe concludes.
